Why are many women opting to be single? Single as in not in a committed relationship. Is it because of past failed relationships? Many are just tired of being in a relationship and want to enjoy being single and just date with no strings attached. Whatever the case, being single is not a bad thing.
Recently, I ended a 7 year relationship with a wonderful man. He was not a cheater, or abusive. The relationship was just a relationship, so we opted to be friends. It wasn't about me wanting to see other men, I just wanted the freedom to do and be me without strings attached. I have had short and long-term relationships as well and local and long distance ones as well as a couple of "friends with benefits" relationships. Some were good and some were bad, but I have no regrets. Right now, I'm just enjoying me and the peace of mind that comes with being single.
Being single has it pros, as well as its cons. Some of the pros are:
- Being able to date openly and without having any guilt.
- Having the freedom end independence and answer to no one; your time is your time.
- You don't have to deal with another's annoying habits.
- You don't have to worry about the emotional rollercoaster, which can be very stressful.
- You have more time to spend with family and friends and enjoy the company.
- You have the choice to date who you want.
Of course there are cons to begin single as well like not having a consistent companion and being exclusive. Also, being in a relationship, there is a sense of loyalty and trust.
Just know that being single does not mean you are a bitter woman or a woman scorned. Sometimes you have to become one with self and enjoy self-pleasures before you can devote yourself to a committed relationship.
