Social Media Ruins

Social media sites are tools that can be used for networking, marketing, and keeping in touch with friends, family, dating and many other things. Like any other tool, if used properly, these sites can prove to be successful. If used improperly, disasters can be created.

People have blamed Facebook for ruining their relationships. How does Facebook ruin a relationship? A relationship consists of a partnership between two people. They are responsible for how successful or unsuccessful the relationship is. Those of failed relationships are usually members of social media sites. Only the person who created the account knows their initial intention. What starts off as "innocent" communication or flirting has the ability to develop into infidelity. Facebook did not ruin the relationship; the person misused the tool.

Employment terminations occur behind an employee's posting of negative comments concerning their job or inappropriate personal photos. Criminals update their statuses, share incriminating information about a crime or share photos that eventually lead to arrests. Facebook did not get them fired or arrested; the person themselves did.

Better choices, decisions and most importantly responsibility has to be taken for the conduct on social media sites. Before the next photo is posted or status is updated, think about what is being said and who the audience is. Is it worth a relationship, a job or freedom?
